Times have changed. Yet, the wisdom of older, experienced women in caring for babies and young mothers remains valuable.
In the old days, young mothers were surrounded by seasoned female relatives who could guide them through their first steps in motherhood.
That way, older women could pass on their own experience and wisdom.
They could teach and support the young mother, be by her side to help and provide advice.
In many places of the world, especially in modern societies, this is not the case anymore.
Young mothers and fathers are usually left alone. Often, they are physically or emotionally far from their birth families, with virtually no support networks to rely on.
That’s where doulas come in. To fill in this gap our modern lifestyle has left us struggling with.
Doulas can help thanks to their:
● experience
● knowledge
● gentle support
● evidence-based information
● practical help.
As everything is changing around us, some things remain the same.
Being a new parent opens up a whole new chapter in a person’s life.
In that sense, support is key in making this transition as positive and smooth as possible. So that everyone is happy and confident in their new role and changing surroundings.
