The word “doula”

Doula

The first time I heard the word “doula” it sounded weird. I instinctively felt aversion knowing what its original meaning was in Greek.
It took me a long time to get used to it, but as I was learning more and more about what a doula offers I grew to accept and like it.

After all, it is still true that doulas serve others.

They do so with their kind words, soothing voice, encouragement and support.

They take an empathetic approach and they make sure their presence is discreet.

Even the physical comfort and relief they provide comes through their gentle touch.

Every day I take more and more pride in my doula work.

The gratitude, peace of mind and confidence I see in my clients’ eyes when we work together dissipates every challenging moment.

Doulaing other people now seems to be an honor and a privilege. Especially, as I get invited into their most intimate and precious part of their life, their daily parenting experience.

Do you want to know more about what doulas do? Check out my “Services” section above and get in touch. I would love to meet you!
